We are your reliable partner for electromechanical components

Our commitment to quality in the production of custom turned parts has been in place for over 100 years. As a reliable partner to our customers in the electrical engineering industry, we stand for the highest levels of precision and the tightest manufacturing tolerances. We not only manufacture machined components on commission at HORA eTec, but also provide consultancy services on manufacturing feasibility and economic viability during the design phase. Our unique technical expertise in broaching has made HORA eTec one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of electromechanical components. We make contour openings possible with varied geometries from simple square openings to highly elaborate custom self-opening ribbing for wire openings. We always guarantee the highest precision at an optimal price-performance ratio.

In-house developed broaching tools and machines

At HORA eTec, we have explicitly geared our portfolio to the machining of semi-finished brass products: When working with this material, we have therefore developed a unique broaching process. Because the high intensity required for this cannot be ensured with conventional machines and processes. That is why we work with a type of machine we developed and built ourselves, which allows for more broaching power. We design and produce 100 percent of both the tools and the machines ourselves. Our transfer machines offer more possibilities in terms of product design and broaching contours. The broaching cross-section is freely selectable. We manufacture complex machined parts exclusively on transfer machines. Depending on the customer’s requirements, our machines can be rebuilt and adapted, and further functionalities can be added.

Our machinery mainly consists of two types of machines:

  • Our B machines are mechanically controlled and work with high precision and stability. Very high cycle rates can be realised. The material is fed from the coil.

  • Our CARO machines are controlled by NC and are very flexible. They can process very large cross-sections and produce complex parts. The material is fed as a bar. This machine concept enables machining processes with the application of large forces during cutting, explicitly during broaching. This allows, among other things, the production of very precise and compact turned parts with low material input.

Our machine concepts are designed for a wide range of geometries and quantities. We always produce the best possible cost-benefit ratio on our machines. You benefit from our individual and holistic approach.

Advantages of manufacturing on in-house machines

The broaching technology we have developed has an optimal price-performance ratio compared to other manufacturing processes. We offer you numerous advantages:

  • Low machine hourly rates of the in-house machines compared to machine concepts available on the market

  • Lower tool costs

  • High output (up to 1 million parts per week/machine) with low personnel commitment

  • Optimum production processes

  • Even the most unusual contour breakthroughs can be realised

Machinery

Our in-house built machines operate on the transfer principle. This means that we carry out all the machining processes required for the product on the bar before cutting the finished machined body to length from the machining bar in the final step. In addition, we provide you with a comprehensive portfolio of other machines and systems for individual requirements:

  • Variomatic and Escomaten rotary table machines with machining cross-sections of 1.8 mm to 12 mm diameter in the round-symmetrical range and 16 mm² to 120 mm² cross-section in the rectangular range

  • Parts cleaning system, shot blasting system, vibratory grinding system, annealing/thermal stress relief

  • Traditional single and multi-spindle machines

  • Hydromats

  • CNC machinery

  • Various post-processing machines

  • External electroplating (nickel, tin, silver, gold, copper plating, pickling, chemical pre-treatment of aluminium (zincate process))

In-house toolmaking

Precisely tailored to your individual needs: Our in-house toolmaking department takes care of article-specific machine components such as clamping devices or straightening units. This allows us to design our solutions precisely tailored to your requirements – and independently of external suppliers. Our tool grinding shop at the Grabenstraße location in Bünde is a focal point of our range of services. There, our colleagues resharpen tools, make customer-specific adjustments and manufacture new tools according to the design specifications of our technical manager.

These processes result in numerous advantages for you:

  • Low tool costs compared to punching and bending processes.

  • Even unusual contour openings and minimal wall thicknesses can be realised.

  • We make contour openings with different geometries possible: from simple square openings to rectangular wire holes to very complex, individually designed, self-breaking ribs in the wire opening.

  • Functional openings can also be realised, such as contours with a self-stripping function or contours with sharp-edged bottom contours, which break up the oxide layer when contacting an aluminium conductor and thus achieve good contacting.

  • Our self-developed broaching tools are characterised by long tool life, absolute precision in terms of manufacturing tolerances as well as an optimal cost-benefit ratio.

  • Thanks to our in-house production of tool sets, we enable the highest process precision. We can adapt the cutting geometries on the tools to the individual machining tasks. This is a great advantage, especially when machining lead-free brass.

From product idea to series production

The production of individual articles according to customer specifications requires a greater or lesser effort in the constructive design and procurement of article-specific machine parts. The higher the quality of the article, the more drilling, turning, grooving and sawing units are required. Just for the set-up of a new article produced on one of our machines, we often manufacture countless components. This offer is part of our comprehensive service.

In addition, we offer you comprehensive and holistic quality management.

As a trusted partner to our electrical engineering customers, we stand for the highest quality. In this way, digitalised processes ensure product quality at every stage of production. We can respond to individual customer requirements and offer additional services such as high-voltage testing, 100% inspection and an X-ray coating inspection system. Only tested products of optimum quality leave our factory.

Rely on over 100 years of machining expertise from HORA eTec.
